Cutty Sark Original 40º
It all started in 1923 when Francis Berry and Hugh Rudd, one of their partners in the company Berry Bros. & Rudd, founded in 1698, decided to produce a whiskey "better than any that could be bought on the market". Thus was born Cutty Sark Blended Scotch Whiskey, an original style of whiskey developed specifically for international markets and produced with the best malt and grain whiskeys from the Scottish region of Speyside. Traditionally, whiskeys of the day were dark, but Cutty Sark was revolutionary given its naturally light color. It was a Scottish artist, named James McBey, who suggested the name "Cutty Sark" for the new whiskey, as well as the fastest and most famous Scottish sailboat that carried tea, launched at sea in Dumbarton on November 22, 1869.
