WINEMAKING
The 2020 viticultural year was characterized by its heterogeneity, a rainy winter followed by a fairly moderate spring made the vine grow quite well, ending with a very fresh June which delayed this vegetative development. The month of July was austere, very hot, the hottest since 1931, with 3 periods of heat waves, causing losses from scalding in the vineyards.
The harvest started in the first weeks of August in the warmer areas and ended at the highest levels in late September.
Overall, 2020 was a good year for red wines with a fuller profile, with plenty of color and tannins.
After being transported to Quinta de Naples, the grapes were carefully de-stemmed into a stainless steel tank where they fermented at a controlled temperature for about a week. A part of the batch ages in French oak barrels while the rest stays in stainless steel for about 6 months.
TEST RESULTS
The color is beautiful, intense and with hints of violet when stirred in the glass.
On the nose, it has floral notes, of red fruits, with mint nuances that give it complexity and freshness.
In the mouth it is round, elegant and with a persistent acidity.
It's an uncomplicated Douro red. A wine that shows its origin, the richness of the grape varieties, in an elegant and fresh interpretation, easy to drink and to enjoy.
