In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the grain trade. Later, in 1750, already in Vila Nova de Gaia, they started exporting Port Wine to Europe and the British Isles. The family name comes from the small town of Moelln, in northern Germany, deriving from the title Burgomestre, which means head of municipality.
Today Burmester is undoubtedly one of the great names of Port Wine, where its excellent quality Vintage stands out, proof of all the experience acquired over the centuries.
