In 1730, Henry Burmester and John Nash founded Burmester & Nash in London, dedicated to the cereal trade. Later, in 1750, in Vila Nova de Gaia, they started exporting Port wine to Europe and the British Isles. From generation to generation, the Burmesters and Gilbert stood out for the rigour and knowledge that they devoted to Port wine, raising the name Burmester to the highest level of quality and international recognition. At the end of the millennium, Burmester is still owned by Amorim until it is acquired by the Sogevinus group, the current owner of the company. We can consider Burmester as a Colheitas specialist but never neglecting the great quality of its Vintage Port.
